Samoa 7s sink to all-time low |

After a promising start on Day 1 where the Manu topped their pool, it all feel down to earth with a thud on day 2 of the George 7s. The Manu Samoa lost consecutove games to Argentina (again) in the cup quarter-finals, and then had the ignomy of losing to minors USA in the plate semi's. We have fallen from being part of the elite in World Sevens last year to also-rans this season. We are now 7th on the IRB tables... after Kenya! more |

Samoa pummeled Scotland 38-7 in their opening match of the George 7s. The just got past a scrappy Tunisia side 22-14 after ebing behind 14-12 at the half.
Samoa showed some ominous try-scoring form against Australia, sounding a firm warning to the other teams in George tournament. While the hapless Australians were particularly poor on defence, Samoa were most clinical in their finishing. A late first-half yellow card leveled the playing field somewhat with Australia exploiting the numerical advantage to launch a brief fight-back. A third try from Alafoti Fa'osiliva sealed a Samoan victory though, but only just, as the Australians refused to give up. The final score was 21-20 and Samoa finished top of Pool D. more

Full strength Manu Samoa 7s set to contest George tournament. Samoa Sevens coach Galumalemana Moors says the team is in good spirits and confident of an improved placing in the second leg of the IRB circuit.
Samoa will open the George 7s against Scotland, a team they beat in the Plate semi-finals in Dubai last week. The game is set to be played at 10:18pm Samoa time tonight. |
