Junior All Blacks 31 Manu Samoa 10 (halftime JAB 19 Manu Samoa 3)
 The Manu Samoa dominated possesion if not territory but made too many handling errors to trouble the JABs. David Lemi scored a brilliant individual try late in the game by tackling Brett near the JAB tryline and then recovering the ball before dotting down.
While the JABs won comfortbably in the end this was not an easy game for them as the Manu played their hearts out. Only poor handling at the end prevented a closer scoreline. If not for two soft tries in the opening 7 minutes by the JABs, the game may have turned out very diferently. The Manu Samoa will take a lot out of this game and this should bode well for their next match against Australia A in Sydney. <more> |

 Samoa, have begun strongly at Twickenham to send out an ominous message of intent. The islanders, who have won two Cup titles this season in Wellington and Hong Kong, first saw off Canada and then Georgia with equal ease to top the group. They closed off their fine first day by defeating Australia 17-7 to top pool B. They now await Argentina in the Cup quarter-finals. <more> |

 This year Samoa's Sevens team has finally cast off the shackles of previous seasons to become genuine contenders on the world stage.
Just 10 points currently separate them from series leaders Fiji and with both sides - and the other contenders New Zealand - forced to travel half way around the world to play these final two legs in London and Edinburgh, no result is beyond the realms of reality.
