Manu Samoa 7s take on George Print E-mail
Friday, 07 December 2007
Full strength Manu Samoa 7s set to contest George tournament. Samoa Sevens coach Galumalemana Moors says the team is in good spirits and confident of an improved placing in the second leg of the IRB circuit.

Samoa will open the George 7s against Scotland, a team they beat in the Plate semi-finals in Dubai last week. The game is set to be played at 10:18pm Samoa time tonight.
According to Union spokesperson, Lilomaiva Salesa, “Apart from Scotland, we have Australia and of course Tunisia in our pool so it’s a difficult one. But we’re confident we should come out as top qualifier. Once we’re through, it doesn’t really matter who of South Africa, Argentina or Wales we meet in the quarters, we just have to be on top of our game.

“The competition is really tough as Dubai showed, one mistake like the one we did against England in the Dubai quarters is all that’s needed for any team to take advantage. As it stands, this is shaping up to be a very competitive and attractive circuit before the World Cup in 2009.”

Dubai results for teams in Samoa’s pool show: Australia as winners of the Bowl final, Tunisia the beaten finalists in the Shield and Samoa ousted Scotland in the Plate semi-finals.

Samoa’s performance at George last year is a painful one. The team was beaten in the Plate semi final 7-19 by Tunisia. With NZ beating South Africa in the Cup final 24-17.
